Poster for DoeDeMee project

100 artists from 28 countries teamed up to redesign the cover of 100 classic novels at poster size to raise awareness for the problem of illiteracy. The entire collection can be seen at doedemee.be/showcase. The posters can be bought at doedemee.be/shop - proceeds go to the fight against illiteracy.

I got to do 'A La Recherche Du Temps Perdu' by Marcel Proust. I decided to picture one of the key scenes, where the main character gets blown back in time to Illiers-Combray, the place where he grew up, after eating a madeleine dipped in tea.

The final poster

A shot of the set

To portray Combray I cut out the town I grew up in.

The making of the cup

And this is the Fisher Price clock I grew up with.

Oh and while I had been looking for 'le temps perdu', it seems it was in Brussels all along.
